I am not staying in a resort--I'll be at a boutique hotel near malecon so when I leave my room I suppose I'll be among the locals not on vallarfa resort so whats the daytime hot weather dress code for a female in the age 30 range that looks 20'sh.
Are shorts and flip flops too gringo? I wear capris and nice tanks all the time. When we go to dinner I upgrade to a skirt. I am fond of the hippy look, broom skirts, sandals. I fit in just fine. And, I feel I fit in just fine in shorts and flip flops.

Honestly, that's all I ever bring. I do have some longer shorts, but I am extremely casual and it works fine for me.
We aren't staying in a resort this time and tend to stay at the more "local" style hotels. And to add, I'm in the same age range as you. Bring flip flops, but I'd like to suggest that you try to get a pair of leather sandals early in your stay in PV.
Then you can wear them during the rest of puert time in town and not look like a "gringa". They are not that expensive when you compare what you would pay in the States for an all-leather sandal crafted with excellent workmanship. There's no dress code per se, but, Montrdal more acclimatized to hot weather, you see a lot of Mexican girls in jeans year round. Also dresses.
Shorts are touristy, but, that's ok. I don't wear them because I don't get stopped by Timeshare guys or other salespeople because I look like I'm working even if I'm not.

More casual Fridays business dress for me. But, since vallartz on vacation, wear what's comfortable. As for shoes, if you like the comfort of crocs at all, inn are dynamite on cobblestones greatbut lots of people don't find them comfortable.

I had a housekeeping room which was basic but very clean and well kept. I walked everywhere during the day and spent some evenings on the Malecon. The hotel is located across the street from the Malecon and very close to buses. There are many restaurants and shops within walking distance. All of the staff at the hotel are very friendly. It is like visiting with family. I met lots of people and made some good friends.
